SERVING NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS

  • If you are having a party, and if you are serving alcoholic drinks and have your bar set up, MAKE SURE you also set out the non-alcoholic drinks.

  • Do not make someone ask IF you have soda or juice, place these drinks up front and center!

  • AND, feature and serve the drinks in the same caring manner you do the alcoholic beverages.

  • Do not put out cans if you are only serving soda. My preference: put out the liter bottles and pour the drinks into glasses. If you are bartending or have a bartender at the party then cans are fine as long as they are poured into a glass.

  • Be just as creative with the garnishes as you are with the alcoholic drinks. There can be more to a non-alcoholic drink than a soda, juice or a Shirley Temple with maraschino cherries!

  • Do a Google search for non-alcoholic drinks OR check the details of my site and find a recipe. Most sites have non-alcoholic drink recipes.

  • Take the time to have a recipe ready for your party. Just as I suggest you do with an alcoholic drink, feature a special non-alcoholic drink. You may even have more people ordering this than the alcoholic drinks!

TIPS FOR NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS

Mix 100% juice drinks or nectars with club soda or a clear carbonated soda like 7-Up or Sprite....serve in a white wine glass over ice. Experiment.

I love Pomegranate juice (a couple of my favorites: Pom Wonderful, 100% Pom juice, and Old Orchard Healthy Balance Pomegranate). Cranberry juices and peach nectars are also great.

Tipping my hat to Shirley...the Shirley Temple Cocktail!

  • Pour ginger ale or 7-Up or Sprite
  • Top with a little Grenadine syrup
**there are varieties, one is to add a splash of OJ

Mix in a Collins glass (tall) filled with ice and garnish with cherry or slice of orange.

When we were kids we would have 3 or 4 maraschino cherries in the bottom of the glass, but don't overdo this with adults :-)

There are the standard non-alcoholic drinks like the Virgin Mary...and do not just pour V-8 or tomato juice over ice! Mix your Virgin Mary with the same flair as your favorite Bloody Mary recipe merely leaving out the alcohol. Don't forget to serve it with a celery stalk. Have you heard of the alcoholic drink Sex on the Beach? Well, check out my recipe shown below for the non-alcoholic version, Safe Sex on the Beach!

I havejust found recipes for non-alcoholic martinis, including a non-alcoholic Cosmopolitan. Check it out: http://martiniart.com/

I have not tried the recipes yet, but they sound fabulous.

Safe Sex on the Beach

  • 1 ounce peach nectar
  • 1 ounce raspberry juice
  • half fill with orange juice
  • half fill with cranberry juice

Mix in a Collins (tall) glass and garnish with a cherry.
